The Ohio State University Fruit and Vegetable Safety Team was formed as a result of requests from producers for employee education programs on Good Agricultural Practices, also known as GAPs.

These initial programs demonstrated a need in the community and led to an Excellence in Engagement Grant that enabled us to expand our educational programs statewide. The team originally consisted of one OSU Extension Educator and several Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC) faculty members. It grew to include the Faculty and Extension Educators from all corners of the state.

This team provided education to over 600 employees of the state's fresh fruit and vegetable industry since its inception. We hope to expand on this number this year and to add more comprehensive programs.
